The Verdict Is In
Think back, if you will, to the morning of May 8, 2016. Carnival Pride had sailed trouble-free through Chesapeake Bay toward Baltimore, and glided right into the port. As it approached the pier, things began to go wrong, and the ship's bow struck the pier and fendering. It then struck the passenger boarding bridge, destroying it when it fell over, slightly damaging three vehicles parked under it.

More Fun for Baltimore
Carnival Cruise Line has extended their contract to continue sailing from the Port of Baltimore through December 2018 with three one-year options. The service will continue to be with Carnival Pride.

* Carnival Schedules Return to Baltimore
Well, that was fast. Last fall, Carnival Cruise Lines announced they would suspend their cruises from Baltimore indefinitely, beginning in the fall of 2014, due to the economics of operating in the new North American Emission Control Area. Today they announced a date for their return in the spring of 2015, essentially meaning they will only be out of the market for the winter 2014-2015 season.
The will return with a ship with a lot of new features, one of them, making it possible to return to Baltimore.
* Caribbean Princess - Hurrying to Beat the Fog
Princess was faced with an interesting situation with regard to its turnaround at Houston this weekend.
In the end, they decided that, due to predicted fog Saturday morning, Caribbean Princess would return to Houston a day early, arriving after midnight Friday morning. Unfortunately, the early return necessitated canceling the last port call in Belize.
Ah, but there's more to the decision than just the fog.

Carnival Cruise Lines has scheduled a return to Baltimore in the spring of 2015.
The line originally announced they would suspend cruises indefinately beginning this fall. As it works out, they will now only be out of the Baltimore market during the 2014-2015 winter season.
Carnival Pride will return to Baltimore beginning March 29, 2015.

The Pool Party Will Be Delayed
Carnival Pride turned around at Baltimore yesterday (December 8, 2013) and passengers had a somewhat unusual sight on a Carnival ship - several inches of snow on the deck. Needless to say, the sailaway party moved indoors.

Princess Cruises said today that construction of Regal Princess has been progressing very well, and they have decided the new ship can debut 13 days earlier than anticipated.
During that time, Princess will add a 13-day round trip from Venice to Athens, which can be booked either in its entirety or as either the six- or seven-night segment.
* Another Group Godmother for Norwegian Getaway
Get plenty of champagne ready, because Norwegian Cruise Line is planning another gang christening for their newest ship, Norwegian Getaway when it arrives in Miami.
The line has chosen the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders as godmothers for the new ship.
