Don't Pull That Han....

Grand Princess' current voyage is being cut short because of an unusual incident aboard the ship last week during a Hawaiian cruise.

The ship had departed Maui en route back to the Mainland when a tender platform on the starboard side unexpectedly opened and was damaged. The damage prevented the platform from being reclosed, and it also caused minor damage to the hull.

Grand Princess Update

Grand Princess arrived back at San Francisco this morning as planned and prepared to depart on the next scheduled cruise this evening.

The ship sustained a malfunction in one of its electrical switchboards five days into a 14-night round trip cruise to Hawaii. The failure resulted in slower cruising speeds while repairs were underway, and that resulted in cancellation of all port calls except Honolulu.

A Cruiser’s Dream

The passengers aboard Grand Princess this week may not be getting the Hawaii cruise they bought, but they are getting the ultimate experienced cruiser’s dream: a two-week cruise with 12 sea days, two days in Hawaii - and it’s FREE - and if that’s not enough, they get a discount on another cruise.

This all comes as a result of the changes necessitated by the repairs required after the propulsion circuit breaker failure on Grand Princess Monday.

Video of Grand Princess Drydock - Day 24

This is it. Grand Princess left the Grand Bahama Shipyard, and has arrived in Ft. Lauderdale. The first passengers are now aboard the "new" Grand Princess enjoying the new piazza and other new facilities. Martyn gives us a final tour just before Grand Princess sailed this evening for Europe.

The completed areas are being handed back to Princess by the contractors and Grand Princess is getting set to sail from the dry dock.
