Royal Caribbean seems to be on their way to providing an answer to customers who think there's nowhere different to go. They are going to create their own destinations.

Royal Caribbean Plans New Headquarters Building

The Miami Herald is reporting that Royal Caribbean is planning to expand its headquarters at the Port of Miami with a new building adjacent to its current buildings on the southwest corner of Dodge Island.

The new building would boost space to enough room for 4,200 employees compared to the current 2,200. Yes, a parking garage will also be included in the project.

RCCL Orders another Edge for Celebrity

If you liked Celebrity Edge when it debuted last fall, there are going to be five of the technologically advanced ships five years from now, because today, Chantiers de l'Alantique said Royal Caribbean ordered a fifth Edge-class ship for Celebrity.

The French yard said the vessel is scheduled for delivery in the fall of 2024.

Galveston & RCCL Sign MOU for New Terminal

The Port of Galveston officially announced a long-term agreement today with Royal Caribbean that will result in the building of a third cruise terminal at the port, although a specific design, costs and lease terms haven't yet been settled.

Royal Caribbean's New Plan Is Full of Wind

Royal Caribbean's newest project will be in Kansas - far the ocean. Actually, passengers will never go there, but the world will benefit from it.

Royal Caribbean is going to be farming - wind farming, and over the next year or two, 62 huge wind turbines are going to sprout in the Kansas plains, financed by Royal Caribbean, and start spinning.

Silver Origin Work Begins

The Netherlands' De Hoop began construction already on Silversea's Silver Origin expedition vessel for the Galapagos.

The yard said they cut the first steel on Monday for what the yard will refer to as hull number 489.

Delivery is set for March 2020.

RCCL Orders Three Ships for Silversea Brand

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, has ordered three new ships for their Silversea brand. The company signed an MOU for two of a new Evolution class were ordered from Meyer Werft, the first of which will be delivered in 2022.

They also signed a contract with De Hoop for a 100-passenger ship that will sail in the Galapagos. It will be delivered in March 2020.

An Hour with Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean had their quarterly conference call today to discuss their earnings with financial analysts, and as usual, there were some interesting comments which weren't directly financial.

There was an important trend we spotted, as well as a couple interesting minor news items, like Royal Caribbean trademarking (literally) a new term. There were also a few just plain interesting observations by RCCL executives.

Signed and Sealed and Making First Plans

Royal Caribbean closed on their acquisition of two-thirds stake in Silversea Cruises yesterday, making the luxury brand part of the Royal Caribbean family.

Royal Caribbean said this “fills out RCL's portfolio of cruise brands across all key market segments.”

RCCL Takes Majority Stake in Silversea

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (the parent of Royal Caribbean International) said today they have purchased a 66.7% stake in Silversea Cruises for approximately $1 billion. In addition Manfredi Lefebvre will receive approximately 472,000 Royal Caribbean shares if certain performance metrics are met.

It's Working

In last week's conference call to discuss Royal Caribbean's second quarter earnings, a topic that came up several times was their price integrity program. Executives said it's working well, and that's evidenced in the strength of their bookings in all markets.

That's excellent news for Royal Caribbean. Unfortunately for consumers' pocketbooks, though, it's really bad news because it means there are no longer those super sales to help fill up the ship.
