Carnival Corp Orders Three 180,000-ton Ships

Carnival Corp today signed a memorandum of agreement to order three 180,000-ton ships, one from Meyer Werft in Germany and two from Meyer Turku in Finland. The two from Meyer Turku will go to Carnival Cruise Line, and the one from Meyer Werft will go to P&O Cruises.

All three will carry approximately 5,200 passengers (based on double occupancy) and be powered by liquified natural gas (LNG). Both brands' will be built on the same basic design but will be quite different from the passengers' standpoint. Both lines promise their own major new features, but neither is detailing them yet.
