MSC Crociere announced today that they will retire the classic MSC Melody. The ship is the oldest and most traditional design in their fleet, and the line said they prefer to focus on their cutting edge ships.
The 35,000-ton vessel was built as Atlantic for Home Line in 1982 and later became StarShip Atlantic for Premier a/k/a the Big Red Boat, before joining the MSC fleet in 1997.
MSC did not say exactly when the ship would cease operations or how they will dispose of it.
