My Zipper Is Bigger Than Yours

Just when you thought there was nothing new to do on St. Maarten, along comes Rockland Estate. The eco-park attraction was built by Rainforest Adventures with financing from Carnival Corp and contains the world's steepest zip line, as well as other thrilling rides set in a lush eco-friendly location.

Today was the official opening, and it will be offered as a shore excursion on all the ships of the eight Carnival brands calling at St. Maarten.

Return to Normal

Royal Caribbean has set dates to return to San Juan and St. Maarten in addition to St. Thomas, which they announced plans for earlier. They also updated the status on a couple of ports that still aren't ready for their return.

Carnival has been working to get the message out that there was little storm damage in most of the Caribbean. But today, Carnival said they now have specific plans when they will return to islands where there was severe damage.

Relief Is on the Way

During last week's cruise, Carnival Fascination called at St. Kitts to drop off relief supplies which will be taken to storm-damaged St. Maarten.

Now Hurricane Maria is bearing down on the same area including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, now appearing to arrive there Tuesday night.

Royal Caribbean Offers 5K Run as Shorex

* Running Down to St. Maarten
You have to hand it to Royal Caribbean for originality of a new one-time-only shore excursion being offered, but it shouldn't come as a surprise since much of their marketing has always stressed the active options available on a cruise vacation.

The special excursion, called Royal 5K, will happen only on Allure of the Seas December 12 sailing when the ship reaches St. Maarten on December 16.
