Royal Caribbean International has announced Oasis of the Seas will replace Anthem of the Seas in the New York market (sailing from Cape Liberty in Bayonne) for the summer 2020 season, marking the first time an Oasis-class ship has sailed from the Big Apple.
Yes, it will fit under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge thanks to its unusual feature of being able to lower its funnel. The feature was last used on its delivery sailing from the yard in Turku (Finland) as it went under Denmark's Storebaelt Bridge.

* NCL Confirms Plans for Norwegian Escape & Realizes Goal
When Colin Veitch ran things at Norwegian Cruise Line, he made a very astute observation (and one that it was hard for the company to accept) and set them on a course to position the company correctly. In a way, that goal was realized today.
* Even New York Sits up and Takes Notice

Note that they have only contracted for the availability of the ship, and it will be an additional option that is considered over the winter. More - video

Time Lapse Video of Disney Fantasy's Departure from New York
After Disney Fantasy's christening in New York last week, it left for Florida, but on it's way out, Disney videographers shot this interesting video of the trip out of New York Harbor. They positioned their camera on the Disney Fantasy's top deck looking forward at the giant video screen over the pool, which is playing the video from the ship's bow camera. In the video you then see the dusky panorama unfolding to the sides over the railings of the ship, while you see the view out the front of the ship broadcast on the video screen. To add a touch of surrealism, they time-lapsed the video. Enjoy!
