First Ritz-Carlton Ship Is Launched

This is something you don't see often anymore.

Earlier this month Ritz-Carlton's first ship was launched at the Hijos De J. Barreras Shipyard in Vigo, Spain.  Unlike most cruise ships today, which are much larger (the unnamed Ritz-Carlton ship is only 24,000 tons to give customers a much more intimate experience), this ship was built on land and then slid down rails into the water.

There's still more work to do to complete this ship. It's scheduled to enter service in February 2020.

Please note this video came from B-roll so there is no sound.

First Ritz-Carlton Ship Launched

The first of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection's fleet is floating at the Hijos De J. Barreras Shipyard in Vigo (Spain) today. The first unnamed ship was launched yesterday.

Because of its small size (24,000 tons, 298 passengers), it was built on land and then slid down rails into the water after a traditional blessing.

Ritz-Carlton Cruise Brand Opens for Sale

Ritz-Carlton's cruise brand, Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, opened reservations today for the first time worldwide.

The program includes the entire first year of cruises that include the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada and New England. The intimate size is going to take the vessels into ports where typically larger cruise ships can't go, such as Portofino, Capri, and Mykonos.

The first of three ships now enters service in February 2020.

Ritz-Carlton Details Their One-of-a-Kind Itineraries

A few weeks ago the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection announced their inaugural 2019 year program would see their ship move around the world, following the sun, to all the resort destinations you will want to go - the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada, and Northeastern United States. Now the company is ready to detail those itineraries and has published their first brochure.

The itineraries are all seven to ten days in length. No two of the itineraries are alike, so customers can book them back-to-back without repeating ports. They include both intimate and signature ports of call.
