Carnival Sunrise Named in NYC

Carnival made it official in New York today. Carnival Triumph has officially become Carnival Sunrise. Godmother Kelly Arison named the ship at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

Carnival Sunrise Arrives

Carnival Triumph entered the shipyard at Cadiz and left a month later as Carnival Sunrise, and today she reentered service at Norfolk with a host of new and upgraded features, including her new identity.

Kelly Arison will be the godmother of Carnival Sunrise. Ms Arison is the daughter of Carnival Corp Chairman Micky Arison.

Taking Charge of Sunrise

As we reported earlier this week, Carnival Triumph is currently making its way across the North Atlantic toward a shipyard in Cadiz for conversion into Carnival Sunrise. Carnival is treating its return more or less as a new ship. 

Just as it's crossing the Atlantic, Carnival has announced the “new” Carnival Sunrise's senior officers.

Good-bye Triumph, Hel-lo Sunshine

In March, Carnival Triumph will enter dry dock in Cadiz (Spain), and two months later, after $200 million worth of work, it will emerge with such an extensive makeover, that Carnival says it deserves a new name, Carnival Sunrise.

When Carnival Sunrise enters service at the end of April, it will do so with all of Carnival's latest features, newest branded restaurants, lounges, and “fun” venues, along with completely redecorated staterooms.
