Costa's Next Ship Will Be Celebrating Italy

Costa pulled back the curtain a bit on their next new ship, Costa Smeralda which will debut late next year.

In addition to being on the cutting edge environmentally by being the first cruise ship in the global market to be powered by LNG (liquified natural gas) both at sea and in port, Costa Smeralda will also be a tribute to Italy.

Water, Water Everywhere

About a hundred passengers aboard New Orleans-based Carnival Dream are wringing out their socks today after a pipe burst Thursday evening on Deck 9 flooding about 50 staterooms with ankle-deep water. Videos posted online show water pouring from a wall at ceiling height. Carnival says that luckily, it was clean water from the fire suppression system.

Showing Appreciation

It doesn't get much coverage, but Carnival Cruise Line does a lot to show appreciation for US military members. Tampa has a lot of military members stationed there, so last Sunday, Carnival had a military appreciation day for 100 military couples aboard Carnival Miracle at Port Tampa Bay.

It was like a cruise for a day - but without leaving port.
