The continued rain from Tropical Storm Harvey is keeping the Port of Galveston closed, and the uncertainty of when the storm is going to move is keeping the cruise lines from having any firm plans about when they can get their ships into the port. Consequently, there have been several changes of plans over the weekend, with both lines now hoping they can get their passengers home on Friday.
There are four ships involved: Carnival Breeze, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Valor and Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas. All left last week, and most of their passengers are enjoying a vacation almost twice as long as they planned, although for many, under rather stressful circumstances.
Details appeared in the August 28 edition of Cruise News Daily.
