It’s not like it hasn’t happened to Royal Caribbean before. They design a new ship, and they add some new features, and they turn out to be so popular demand far outstrips availability. While it’s nice to have a runaway hit, it also creates disappointed customers.
So what do they do? They add a charge to limit demand (and “enhance revenue” along the way). They did it with Johnny Rockets. Now apparently they are doing it with the North Star and Ripcord by iFly aboard Quantum of the Seas.
