TUI Goes Bigger with New Order
TUI Cruises and Fincantieri announced a new order today for two ships that will be about 50,000 tons larger than their current ships, and they will be LNG-powered.

After getting the results of their survey at how lucrative it is for cruise passengers to stay in Seattle even for a few hours, the port is doing what they can to encourage cruise passengers to spend some time downtown for a few hours or a couple of days.

Exercising Their Options
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings today said they were confirming an order for two additional Leonardo-class ships from Fincantieri.
The ships were originally options on an order placed for four of the new class in February 2017.

Rich Uncle Pennybags Is Going on a Cruise
You've seen him on promotions for a number of different companies (including those game tickets from McDonald's where you can also win free fries) but now Hasbro (the owner of the Monopoly brand) is sending Rich Uncle Pennybags on Princess Cruises. The line, in conjunction with Scientific Games Corp, has the Monopoly Cruise for Cash promotion running on Princess sailings through December 9.
The promotion will reach its climax with a $200,000 slot tournament aboard Regal Princess on December 9.

Overboard from Seven Seas Mariner
The US Coast Guard received a call from Seven Seas Mariner this morning saying a 73-year-old man had gone overboard about 4:30am (Pacific time). It was verified by video of the man going overboard from his eighth-deck stateroom balcony.

Think Twice Before Zipping Along
To most cruise ship passengers, shore excursions that include a zipline over some scenic landscape are assumed to be an exciting but benign activity. Some of the excitement is derived from the speed involved. Some of it, from whatever the participants are skimming over the top of.

Details of Iona Begin to Emerge
P&O began to release information today about the features passengers will find inside Iona, which will open for sale in just a couple of months and go into service in May 2020.
The star of the show will be the Grand Atrium, which spans Decks 6, 7 and 8 with three-deck-high glass walls that fill the space with incredible sea views and light.

It Was Downhill All the Way in Genoa
Costa celebrated their 70th anniversary in their hometown of Genoa on Saturday by throwing a party, and one of the centers of attention was the world's longest water slide - 340 meters or 1,115 feet or almost four football fields long.
Not only that, but the Guinness World Record people also certified the most sliding - 775 kilometers - in an hour.
