After more than two decades in town, it’s hard to believe anyone living in the New Orleans area, wouldn’t realize Carnival has cruises from New Orleans. Sailing from the city year round, they have more cruises and more capacity than any other cruise line.
Nonetheless, they are going to raise their visibility by partnering with the New Orleans Saints by becoming their official cruise line. You can’t get much more visible than that.

Joaquin Closes the Bahamas
As expected, Hurricane Joaquin has eliminated calls by cruise ships in the Bahamas for a few days. Since Bahamian ports are always so busy with ships, it means lots of changes.
In most cases, cruise lines are just replacing calls in the Bahamas with sea days and keeping the ships far away from Joaquin and in smoother seas.

Let’s Not Tell Them
About the time word leaked that Carnival was returning to Mobile, some of the city council members decided the cruise terminal needed a new name.
It has had the name “Alabama Cruise Terminal” since it was built, and civic pride told them it needed to have the word “Mobile” in the name, perhaps, “Mobile Cruise Terminal.” But now that idea's been put on hold because they have a master plan.

Cuba, Here We Come
A couple of weeks ago we told you that Fathom had selected the ports they would call on as part of their social impact cruises to Cuba which begin next May. Today Fathom released a proposed itinerary which included the choices available for experiences which will immerse the customers in the Cuban culture, and it is impressive.
There are multiple choices of experiences, each of which should give Americans some real interaction with Cubans and provide some opportunities to learn what today’s Cuba is all about.
What’s even more impressive is the range of the experiences Fathom has put together to choose from each day. There’s something for everyone, and enough to keep just about everyone busy the entire day - and they will all give you some unique insight into Cuban life or culture.

Blended, Not Stirred
Imagine sitting down to dinner in the dining room on your cruise and enjoying a bottle of wine created just for you, one that you will find perfect because you created it. That’s one of the features that will be available on Holland America’s Koningsdam when it launches next spring.
The ship will have the first purpose-built wine-blending venue at sea where you can learn to blend from a selection of five barrels of single-vineyard red wine, and you’ll be guided by Koningsdam’s wine expert.
