Silversea said today that Silver Cloud will leave the main fleet and become part of their expedition fleet at the end of 2017, joining Silver Explorer, Silver Discoverer, and Silver Galapagos.
Silversea said that once it’s part of the expedition fleet, Silver Cloud will spend most of its time in polar waters (both Arctic and Antarctic), but it will at times also operate expedition voyages in other parts of the world.

Genting Inks Deal to Acquire Lloyd Werft
Genting Hong Kong, the parent of Crystal Cruises and Star Cruises and a stakeholder in NCLH with their various brands, is getting into the shipbuilding business. The Asian-based company said today they have struck a deal to acquire a majority share of the German shipyard, Lloyd Werft which is located at Bremerhaven.

Norwegian Bliss Is Born

Fincantieri Lays Keel for Seabourn Encore
The next Seabourn ship is on the way. Fincantieri laid the keel today for Seabourn Encore at their Marghera yard.
The 41,700-ton vessel is a progression of the Odyssey-class built by T. Mariotti, but it will carry 600 passengers, 150 more than the Odyssey-class, and have one additional deck and expanded public spaces.

After announcing they would be adding 15 single cabins to Queen Mary 2 and 30 more Britannia Club cabins, Cunard said today they have chosen a design firm to draw up the plans.

If you want to sail around the world, you almost have to work your calendar around sailing the first three months of the new year - except on Costa. Costa Luminosa left Italy today on a 98-day world cruise will cross three oceans and visit 39 destinations on five continents.
More than 1,000 passengers sailed from Savona (Italy) and another 260 will board Tuesday in Marseille and another 240 will join the cruise in Barcelona. The ship will sail westward around the world, returning to Savona on December 21.
